Fotografie + English: a Photo of Asteroid (253) Mathilde taken by the space probe NEAR Shoemaker on 27 June 1997 from a distance of 2400 km. It is lit up by the sun from the top right. The part of the Asteroid visible in the picture has Dimensions of 59 km x 47 km, whereas the picture resolution is 380px. On the surface, numerous large craters are visible, like the Large Crater in the Center, named Karoo [1], which is more than 30 km wide. Most of it is shaded in the picture.
